I finally got my MCSA. It's all I will say about it.

I am on the middle of the race to the MCSE+MSG, but it is good to take a time to acknowledge that I am trying (and getting) what I want. But it is not time to get lazy. Anyway, when is it? if you want to get something in this life, i've learned that you must not give away a centimeter, or milimeter of what you have got.

I'll try also to get some more interesting stuff for this blog.

So, I'm going to pretend like nothing ever happened. Tomorrow will be my first (?) post.

I did not pass my test, so my whole schedule for everything changed :-(

I wanted to go to a couple of social events that were cancelled, I gotta study hard, I am not in a hurry for this but i need to pass all the coming tests.

i was not expecting this to happen, but...shit happens.

i am also working out on some personal stuff that i was trying to understand more, for those who are reading since the beginning, i've been passing thru several storms in my personal life which may be over.

I have a little hope on many things and I hope that in a couple of months all the "possitive things" that started to happen some time ago, will come true.

Aloha, i've been very busy lately, and i am right now in a "weekend break", so things tend to be more calm today.

I've been fixing some parts of my website, the panoramic pictures. You can check out one picture here

besides that, I will upload the rest of the pages today or tomorrow, I do not like the free hosting that i have but in the other hand i will not pay for a hosting for my website! so...i have to upload everything once, check out if everything works, then try again and again...

about me, oh well i fixed out some personal things, I have many things to improve in my life but the biggest challenge that I have in my life is to believe in me. I must improve that. I am not a "crowd" person if you know what i mean, i'm just a "people" person, i feel sometimes that I am not in the right place, I miss many things but in the other hand I take decissions in my life and I must understand them more.

1 Keep your photos in a photo album. Your employer doesn't want the public to know the funny things you do at the office.

2 Think before you write. It's a surprisingly fine line between company secrets and common knowledge. Generally speaking, if something is discussed in a meeting, don't post it on a blog.

3 Anonymity is hard to maintain. You tell a friend, who tells a friend, who tells another friend. Faster than you can say, "Check out my update," you're smoked out, then fired.

4 Free speech isn't guaranteed -- not when you're dealing with employers. As long as an employer feels what you've said is damaging to its business, it has grounds for termination.

5 People are petty -- really petty. True

Be careful when blogging. Read this.

There are about 10 million blogs out there, give or take, including one belonging to Niall Kennedy, an employee at Technorati, a small San Francisco-based company that, yes, tracks blogs.

Like many employees at many companies, Mr. Kennedy has opinions, even when he is not working. One evening last month, he channeled one of those off-duty opinions into a satiric bit of artwork - an appropriation of a "loose lips sink ships" World War II-era propaganda poster altered to provide a harsh comment on the growing fears among corporations over the blogging activities of their employees. He then posted it on his personal Web log.

But in a paradoxical turn, Mr. Kennedy's employer, having received some complaints about the artwork, stepped in and asked him to reconsider the posting and Mr. Kennedy complied, taking the image down.

"The past day has been a huge wake-up call," Mr. Kennedy wrote soon afterward. "I see now that the voice of a company is not limited to top-level executives, vice presidents and public relations officers."

As the practice of blogging has spread, employees like Mr. Kennedy are coming to the realization that corporations, which spend millions of dollars protecting their brands, are under no particular obligation to tolerate threats, real or perceived, from the activities of people who become identified with those brands, even if it is on their personal Web sites.

They are also learning that the law offers no special protections for blogging - certainly no more than for any other off-duty activity.

As Annalee Newitz, a policy analyst with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights advocacy group in Washington, put it, "What we found is there really is quite a bit of diversity in how employers are responding to blogging."

A rising tide of employees have recently been reprimanded or let go for running afoul of their employers' taste or temperament on personal blogs, including a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines who learned the hard way that the carrier frowns on cheeky photos while in uniform and a Google employee who mused on the company's financial condition and was fired.

Some interpreted these actions as meaning that even in their living rooms, even in their private basement computer caves, employees are required to be at least a little bit worried about losing their jobs if they write or post the wrong thing on their personal Web logs.

"I would have expected that some of the louder, more strident voices on the Internet would have risen up in a frenzy over this," said Stowe Boyd, the president of Corante, a daily online news digest on the technology sector. "But that didn't happen."

In Mr. Boyd's opinion, everything about what Mr. Kennedy did was protected speech. The use of trademarks was fair use in a satirical work, Mr. Boyd said, and it seemed unlikely that the company would be somehow liable for the off-duty actions of an employee, as Technorati executives argued. It was, in Mr. Boyd's eyes, an indication that corporate interests were eclipsing individual rights.

"I don't know what else to say," he declared. "I'm astonished."

But Ms. Newitz and others have cautioned that employees must be careful not to confuse freedom of speech with a freedom from consequences that might follow from what they say. Indeed, the vast majority of states are considered "at will" states - meaning that employees can quit, and employers can fire them, at will - without evident reason (barring statutory exceptions like race or religion, where discrimination would have to be proved).

"There really are no laws that protect you," Ms. Newitz said.

Martin H. Malin, a professor of law and director of the Institute for Law and the Workplace at the Chicago-Kent College of Law, said there were only a few exceptions.

"It depends on what the blog is," he said, "what the content is, and whether there's any contractual protection for the employee."

Those who work for the United States Postal Service, for instance, or a local sanitation department may have some special blogging privileges. That is because, depending on the circumstances, the online speech of public employees can be considered "of public concern," and enjoys a measure of protection, Professor Malin explained.

Employees protected under some union contracts may also be shielded from summary dismissal for off-duty activities, at least without some sort of arbitration. "Lifestyle law" trends of the late 1980's and early 90's - sometimes driven by tobacco and alcohol lobbies - created state laws that protected employees from being fired for engaging in legal, off-duty activities, though no one is likely to be fired simply for blogging, but rather for violating some policy or practice in a blog.

And bloggers who are neither supervisors nor managers and who can demonstrate that they are communicating with other workers about "wages, hours or working conditions" may warrant some protection under the National Labor Relations Act, Professor Malin said - even in nonunion enterprises.

None of this, of course, answers the question of where the status of employee ends and that of private citizen begins.

Some companies, like Sun Microsystems, have wrapped both arms around blogging. Sun provides space for employees to blog (blogs.sun.com), and while their darker impulses are presumably kept at bay by the arrangement, there are hundreds of freewheeling and largely unmonitored diaries supported by the company.

Microsoft, too, has benefited from the organic growth of online journaling by celebrity geeks now in its employ, like Robert Scoble, whose frank and uncensored musings about the company have developed a loyal following and given Microsoft some street credibility.

But other companies are seeing a need for formalized blogging policies.

Mark Jen, who was fired from Google in January after just two weeks, having made some ill-advised comments about the company on his blog (Google would not comment on Mr. Jen's dismissal, but confirmed that he no longer works for it), is now busy helping to draft a blogging policy for his new employer, Plaxo, an electronic address book updating service in Mountain View, Calif.

"It was a very quick education for me at Google," Mr. Jen said. "I learned very quickly the complexities of a corporate environment."

With Plaxo's blessing, Mr. Jen is soliciting public comment on the new blogging policy at blog.plaxoed.com.

Most of the points are the kinds of common-sense items that employees would do well to remember, particularly if they plan on identifying themselves as employees in their blogs, or discussing office matters online: don't post material that is obscene, defamatory, profane or libelous, and make sure that you indicate that the opinions expressed are your own.

The policy also encourages employee bloggers to use their real names, rather than attempting anonymity or writing under a pseudonym.

Two weeks ago, the group published a tutorial on "how to blog safely," which included tips on avoiding getting fired. Chief among its recommendations: Blog anonymously.

"Basically, we just want to caution people about how easy it is to find them online," Ms. Newitz said, "and that they are not just talking to their friends on their blogs. They're talking to everyone."

But does that means that Mr. Kennedy, a short-timer, a product manager and by no means an executive at Technorati, carries the burden of representing the company into his personal blog?

Technorati's vice president for engineering, Adam Hertz, responded: "It would be antithetical to our corporate values to force Niall to do anything in his blog. It's his blog."

Yet with the spread of the Internet and of blogging, Mr. Hertz said, it would be foolish for companies to not spend some time discussing the art of public communications with their employees, and even train and prepare lower-level staff for these kinds of public relations situations.

That said, Mr. Hertz stressed that the company had no interest in formalizing any complicated policies regarding an employee's activities outside the office.

"I had a high school teacher," he recalled, "who used to say 'I have only two rules: Don't roller-skate in the hallway and don't be a damn fool.' We really value a company where people can think for themselves."

Hi, I've been working hard, doing lots of things and things finally seemed to be working fine till this week when I had some warnings @work...which I don't want to give more value than supposed. So anyway, "I'm doing my homework" so everything may be OK. That's it.

Besides that, now with internet at home i must exercise myself so i can study more instead of being online :-) I am working on lots of stuff at work and I am also updating my website.

I am reading lots of info about lots of MS products which are not easy or basic stuff. So wish me luck.

Hi,

today is the "cleaning day" at home, as it is a small apartment i clean it very quickly but i am always lazy to do it :-)

so anyway things are great. Internet is working fine, it is not THAT fast, but it is cheap. I really like it.

there are not many things to say about the weekend, I had a busy day and solved some issues at work and home so i feel happy that it is weekend and i can enjoy it.

I tested netscape8, great visual, not so great controls, the menus have too much information, I decided to roll back to my netscape 7.2. Let's see how MS will deal with IE7. I like the Tab browsing implemented in NS, Opera, Firefox, etc..but those navigators take a lot of memory and that's not that good when that is a concern..

I've tested another blog, livejournal.com, till now this one is better. And I will stay here.

Hi! For all of those who write my blog and send me comments, thanks a whole bunch! I am impressed, I just write this to take some notes of facts in my life, thanks.

Maybe I read it in the future and smile about this, or maybe I will not write in here anymore, I am just guessing what will happen, anyway it may be a kind of thing to make an "autobiography" book :-))

who knows, as you can read on my blog, "life is ours we live it our way". For me that means that I try hard to be a better person every day, and try to help my environment to be better every day. Sometimes I get good results, sometimes I don't, but I feel happy about it.

Oh well I'm still translating this document. It takes forever!

Besides I just confirmed my moving, next weekend, it will take the whole day, at home people is not very happy but who cares about my future? me or them?

hey, it's ME ME ME... (read it as Agent Smith and you will see... :-) anyway, it was fun today, I passed my exam and I will move forward to my next step, which is moving to the new house.

hey, good evening!

I am studying hard! I just want to get rid of this exam!

besides, I am not feeling very well today. as most people says, blogging is a kind of therapy, that is what I am doing today, trying to use it as a therapy :-). To be honest I am a little bit sad because of a couple of things going on here, I just want to explain them but I am trying to be tough and face them as they are. So anyway, I will be possitive. "Be possitive and everything goes better" :-)

Moving from here will DEFINITELY help, that is the first step. the other steps are just trying to sort out things going on and some steps will not depend on me but they will definitely affect me.

I watched some movies, Man on Fire, The Butterfly Effect, Ocean 11. all of them are cool. I didn't finish Paycheck. I do not like this guy Ben Affleck, he tries to be cool but he will never be. :-)

Hi,

finally I have everything I need for my vacation week that will be here. And, I will take THOUSANDS of pictures that will be posted here.

I am sleepy, and tired, so the best thing that can happen to me is to go on vacation :-). I am translating some stuff at work which is not very interesting but it keeps me very busy and I have to work harder because next week I'll be at the "Cidade Maravilhosa" :-)

there are not many more news today, besides that i am kind of busy with my test and work, trying to clear many things in my mind, and of course, thinking about many things in the year to come.

I need to focus myself on the test that i will have next week but as I didn't have the chance at home to study I stayed at work today, and I think I will continue doing this till I pass the test, I do not say I take the test because I will pass it no matter what it takes :-))

I gotta upload the new website, I didn't have many time to do it, besides that I lost the username and password for the ftp site...oops, I have it @home but I didn't have time to find it on my hard drive of the computer that was broke last week.

Hello World! :-)

So, another weekend in Buenos Aires, rainy weekend, I watched some tv shows that I borrowed from a friend of mine, plus I did (mostly) everything that I was supposed regarding my diet, and I arranged some more stuff for my vacation.

I do not like weekends very much, I hope that this feeling will be better after I move out from here, and I hope that I am not getting lots of high hopes about moving, I mean, it will be great but I don't want this to be like a "dreamworld". I prefer to change the word "dream" for "real". :-)

It seems that I am not in my better mood, I deeply (and hardly) try to sort out things, I know that everything will be better, it is simply..a matter of time :-)

- my apartment is ready I will move in march, I cancelled my apartment at "El Palomar"
- my vacation is ready, I will go from feb 12th till 19th

Yesterday I arranged the apartment thing. I will be moving on march to a new place, that is just great. Things at home are not in their best time, basically they never were even OK. Hola!

I am almost gone for today but I wanted to keep this blog updated. So I booked my vacation....yes!! THOSE ARE GOOD NEWS.

hey it will be one week far, far away.... :-) I love it! I just like it only to think about that i will not be here, that is just great. It is not that i do not like being here, it is that I need to go somewhere to "charge the batteries" because this year will be...busy, great, etc...it will keep me busy.

And besides, I did not have time for me since 1999, so I better take a break! I do not regret from nothing, but I deserve a break. I hope it will be a "Big Time" for me. I tell you I need a break, this was my "phrase of the moment" and I hope that after that vacation that will be history, tomorrow I have to take a look at the apartment thing too..and get a new appointment with the doctor, and continue studying because my exam is coming..oh well I am kind of busy right now, but it is ok for me, I feel great.

Sometimes the "ghost from the past" shows up but I say, hey your time's gone, it is my time now, it is my future.

I better go, 6pm and i have a meeting with a "future business partner" :-)

Aloha from Mars, so, there are some news, not many but at least is something... :-)

One of the computers at home suddenly stopped working, then, an explosion BOOOM! then...a black screen, I said to myself, BINGO! what's next? fortunatelly I had my sister's computer (old one, but works!) and (as she is gone), I configured that so I can continue being "online" :-)

I gotta continue my jogging stuff, I am lazy today but I think I must do something about it. Right now I am also working on the 2005 update of my homepage, I added some cool ideas.

I am also listening some music, old electronic music but I like it! :-)

Hi everybody how are you doing? I'll start today my new blog, I've created it in 2002 but I will start working on it today, January 21st, 2005. hehe. So anyway, I didn't decide to write in english, español, ou portugues! I am kinda fluent in all of them (Ich spreche kein Deutsch! :-).

My first post will be in English, maybe it can switch, but for now that's it. I have some plans for the coming year, as it changed radically since Jan 4st, but as of today I feel 70% happy and 30% sad about them. so the balance is positive! My plans for the short term are:

- close the rental thing with the owner i want
- get some more IT Certs
- move to a place to (at last!) change my life. This costed me A LOT.

there LOTS of more changes, more will be coming soon...but as I told you before, my life changed. :-)
